In my today’s link hopping session I found this post by DanQ that led me to this post by Brendan Dawes. Basically the two of them write about the simplicity that should be implied in blogging, to stop overthinking it, just post. I’m writing this directly on my WordPress editor, instead of a note in Obsidian, where things go to get lost forever, no matter how much I try to bring them back. I have an amazing blog of half-baked essays and thoughts that lead to no conclusion (not that there’s anything wrong with that!) in my Obsidian, which previously was an amazing blog on Notion, where the only reader, a really picky, annoying reader, was me. I spent the last few days thinking exactly in that: I should write and post more freely, not overthink everything, not every posts has to be a degree thesis, a new revolutionary invention that will cure all the human suffering. I think a lot trough the day (well, everyone does, right?), most of those thoughts seem very good ideas to develop but I tend to be lazy to write them down, trusting my memory which turns out is a big mistake. Other times I get to write them down by theme or the general idea in Obsidian, only to lose them in a sea of unreviewed notes. That is not a good system to accomplish anything, my true desire is to find a new way to communicate my ideas to the ether of the web, even if I don’t know that this will be read by anyone. Which is another point that I saw in my link hopping session: this is for me, right? this is my space, it’s my party and I cry if I want to. Maybe expecting to write a master piece every time I touch my keyboard is setting the bar too far to really start to publish anything. When I write I yearn for that “a-ha!” moment, that perfect closure, that final sentence shaped as a dagger. If I don’t have that, I doubt to make it public. Well, never say never!
